This one's from my neck of the woods. Feel so bad for the baby.
"An Anne Arundel woman and her teenage daughter charged with manslaughter this week in the death of the teen’s 9-month-old boy were ordered held without bail Friday.
Laurie Ann Taylor, 43, and her 17-year-old daughter, Alexus Lorraine Taylor, were charged in the death after the state medical examiner determined his cause of death as fentanyl intoxication, police said Thursday. Forensic pathologists also ruled the manner of death was a homicide.
Both were ordered held without bail by District Court Judge Megan B. Johnson at a bail review hearing Friday in Annapolis.
According to charging documents and Prigge’s presentation during the hearing, baby Niyear Taylor was with his mother, grandmother and aunt when they drove from Curtis Bay to Baltimore in late July to buy heroin.
They bought four heroin capsules and headed home, court records allege.
But when they returned to their residence in 7900 block of Chesapeake Drive in the Orchard Beach neighborhood, police said, one clear capsule was missing.
After a frantic search for the missing capsule, Laurie and Alexus Taylor left the residence to return to Baltimore to buy more heroin, police and prosecutors said.
When they returned around 1 a.m. they were told that the baby had been wheezing. Police said they discussed taking the boy to the hospital but decided to wait and see.
When they woke, the baby was not responsive and they called 911. It was too late.
Niyear died July 27 and became Anne Arundel County’s youngest ever overdose victim, according to Sgt. Jacklyn Davis, a police spokeswoman."
The full article is here. Can't believe the grandmother especially, is only getting charged with manslaughter.
