Nobody did a thread of Pet Sematary so I decided to create one, I don't know for you guys but I review the original movie a 10/10. Of course it's not like the book but it was close to it. I've found it scary and enjoyable to watch, it's worth watching.
Unlike the 2019 version of it where it's the daughter that gets killed and not the son. They should've had kept at least like in the book and the original movie getting Gabe killed and all. I didn't really feel like it was close to the book, I don't know for you guys but for me it was the worst remake that I saw. If you haven't seen it, it's not worth watching it. I give this remake naturally a 0/10.
What about you guys, what is your review about the movie(s) Pet Sematary?

Growing up, I liked Mary Lambert's version of Pet Sematary. It still holds up, but not as well as it used to for me. I still love Fred Gwynne's performance as Jud. Not that John Lithgow didn't do a good job, just not as memorable for me. Zelda is scary in both movies, but more so in the original maybe. The truck death is more devastating in the original movie too, I agree. Although I commend the filmmakers of the new one for trying something different. Too much CGI and the ending was really bad. Needed a couple more rewrites. Some fine tuning. So, yeah. They both have their faults and they both have their merits, but I'm sure the book is better which I have yet to read. If you haven't seen the documentary about the first movie yet, I would highly recommend doing so. It used to be on Amazon Prime.

First off, I hated the 2019 remake of this. Lithgow was probably the only cast member I liked, but I didn't even genuinely like him like I did Fred Gwynn's version of Jud. It felt like the film didn't spend much time on character development at all, just seemed to speed right by that, to me anyway. Love the original, to me it's an absolute classic even if there are some things I still gripe about with it.
The book is one of my all time favorite books, probably because of my age at the time I first read it and how gut-wrenchingly sad Gage's death was in the book and the aftermath. The movie has nothing on that part of the book.
BTW, the documentary can be found on Popcornflix if you have that channel. Great watch.

I love the original film, to me it's an absolute classic. I had been interested in the remake, but considering all the negative feedback from people I trust, and the only positive one coming from someone I disagree with 99% of the time, I'll pass.

It's not bad. It's got Edward Furlong, Anthony Edwards and Clancy Brown in it. I like the original better, but it's worth a watch.

Pet Semetary 2 is fun. I used to catch it on tv a lot when I was younger, but I'm glad it finally had a legit Blu-ray release.
