I write vc fanfiction, this is a short "ficlet" I wrote about an innocent little girl. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I had a dream last night...
A man approached me, he seemed lost and very sad. I ran to maman to tell her of our visitor, but she told me there was no one there. I begged her to come and speak to him, perhaps he might know where my Papa is.
Father left us long ago, I can't really remember when. All I can remember is the night he left it was raining for many days and nights as though it would never stop, and I was very hungry. Maman said there was no food to eat, Papa said he would go out to find us something to eat...for my brothers and I.
My little brothers, Jean Paul and Peirre, they are so small. They cry all night from the hunger in their tummy's, and maman slowly rocks them to sleep in her thin arms, the rags of her dress draped about them as it is the only blanket we have to comfort them.
I go to my little corner by the window, and slowly I drift off to sleep every night...in my dreams I dream of baggetts covered with sugar, and sweet hot honey tea with just a bit of wine. And my brothers are pink and healthy, and laughing sweet little baby laughs. That makes me smile in my sleep, but then the little rumble of hunger in my tummy begins to awaken me. I shrug it off and try to return to my dream...try to remember my sweet baby brothers laughter...before they died...
Slowly I drift back to sleep, and again this tall man with the long black hair is looking down on me with these very sad eyes, I look up at him and ask him.
"Can you please help me find my Papa? He went out to find food and I am so, so very hungry.... Please Monsieur, I promise I won't be any bother to you again."
He smiles softly at me, and red tears begin to form in his green eyes.
"But why do you cry Monsieur? Can you not find your Papa as well? Are you hungry as I am Monsieur?"
"Are you hungry Monsieur?...Are you hungry...
as I am..."
In the distance...there is a laughter...and it won't stop...
Please Papa...come back and make it stop...
