This is an episode of a British TV series called Night Voices. Although made in the 1980s it doesn't seem to have been shown on TV until 1993. Apparently all six episodes exist in a TV archive in the National Library of Wales, but have never been released commercially. The only episode freely available appears to be The Hospice. All six episodes are based on stories by the English weird fiction writer Robert Aickman. I noticed it is up on YouTube. Haven't watched yet, and not sure of the quality. So let me know what you think if you watch it. Here it is:

Nice. I've never even heard of it, but I'll give it a look.
Always on the lookout for horror themed TV shows. I've managed to get a lot of episodes of some kind of lesser known shows. The Tales from the Darkside TV series was one that had a mostly unknown run. A few I still need to find are The Hitchhiker and Darkroom. Glad to see this one you've posted, love a short scary/weird story.

Aickman as an author is an acquired taste, so let me know what you make of it. I'll have to watch myself as well.

There are a lot of old British TV series that I can link too if people are interested (I'm British). The 1970s was a particularly good period for TV over here. I'm finding a lot of American ones I never knew about thanks to this site.

There is a series called A Ghost Story for Christmas by the BBC which I think began in the 1970s, they have started doing them regularly again in recent years, but in my opinion they aren't as good as the earlier ones.
