This one takes place in 1587 with European settlers sailing to an island off the coast of Virginia to make a new home there, only to have it turn out to be haunted. They seek help from the Native Americans on the main land, but a lot of them do not trust the European settlers after bad experiences with others, and do not want to encourage anymore of that. The hauntings turn out to be from wraiths of vikings who are trapped in between this world and the afterlife. This is overall interesting and scary with the ghosts looking both cool and scary, along with a lot of cool looking wendigos from the ghosts. There is also a lot of great drama and dialogue, developing the plot, story, and characters real well.

This sounds like the actual lost English colony of Roanoke. I just looked and it seems to be based on it. The actual story is perfect for this sort of film. The colony seems to have been abandoned, it was cut off from English resupply because of the Spanish Armada and messages were carved on a post and tree suggesting they had moved on to other locations, but nothing has ever been found of them. The first English person born in the Americas was born there. Virginia Dare. She disappeared with the rest of the colony.

It is based on those real events, and the story takes place on that island. That one is a lot better than I expected, and is highly recommended.
