So, not only did I miss a days pay, I got to sit at the station for over 6 hours waiting for the new fuel pump to get there and then pay $400 and some change for the repair. We really need a second car badly. I'd be fine with a Hyundai Accent hatchback, but we need something else for days like this. I could have at least worked for a few hours and made something.
Oh, and the kicker is that the mechanic said my wife and I probably ruined the fuel pump ourselves, by not keeping the gas tank over a 1/4 tank all the time. Apparently the fuel pump is actually in the gas tank, and the gas keeps it lubricated and cool. So when the gas gets below a certain level, the fuel pump get's hot and dries out, eventually causing failure. Today sucked.

Glad it went out in the city and not in the sticks. I drive both, so I guess I was actually lucky. That $400 plus hurt though. Wasn't expecting this.

I hope not too. Completely took me by surprise because I really try to take good care of the car.

i had that happen to me on a sierra cosworth i was picking up for my bosses son a couple of years back.
it turned out to be just a loose connection though on the pump. which was lucky for him.
