I quite enjoyed the movie marathons, even if I didn't really finish most of them, as they got me to watch movies I wouldn't normally have watched. I particularly enjoyed the films made by countries where English was not the first language. With that in mind I decided this February to set a goal to watch more foreign language horror films (whether dubbed or with subtitles). This forum seems as good a place as any to keep a record of my progress. If you would like to take part too then post along with me, perhaps we can find some obscure classics tucked away in deepest South America, or Africa, or Asia! I already spotted a north Korean one, so onward to February!
I should say you don't have to be from an English speaking background to take part. Perhaps you would just like to try something other than the usual Hollywood fare.

If you're looking for recommendations some of my recent subtitled favs are Audition(1999), Hellevator: The Bottled Fools(2005) & Tetsuo: The Iron Man(1989) (i haven't gotten around to Bullet Man yet, maybe i'll try to watch that one this month) ^_^! I wouldn't call Audition or Tetsuo too obscure but I definitely think those are worth watching if you haven't seen them!!

Thanks for the suggestions blood. 1: Tombs Of The Blind Dead (La Noche Del Terror Ciego) 1971 Spanish-Portugeuse co-production. I finished a dubbed version of this one minute into February, so I'll count it. It's the first of four films in Amando de Ossorio's Blind Dead series

I'd spread the trilogy out if you plan on watching all 4 films, they become redundant when seen so close together.

I don't have the others available at the moment, I'd be interested to see them though. I notice they are available in a set: Amando De Ossorio - Director. (DVD + DVD-ROM). With 40 page booklet 'KNIGHTS OF TERROR - THE BLIND DEAD FILMS OF AMANDO DE OSSORIO' by Nigel J Burrell Do you own them in a set, or did you buy separate?

I have them as separate DVDs. About 8 years ago I found 3 of the 4 films at a salvation army along with several other schlocky films. About 4 years ago I got the last of the films I needed (the third in the series, The Ghost Galleon) as a random Christmas gift.

Tonight's viewing is Cthulhu Mansion, A Spanish production, but in English, starring Frank Finlay and one William Shatner's daughters. It looks very bad indeed. Wish me luck!

1: Tombs Of The Blind Dead (La Noche Del Terror Ciego) 1971 2: Cthulhu Mansion (Black Magic Mansion and La Manson de los Cthulhu) 1990. Bad. And yes the mansion is actually called Cthulhu, it's in big letters above the gates. The director was Juan Piquer Simón, who you my recognise from Pieces and Slugs: The Movie.
