"Blood And Lace" is a grindhouse style horror film from 1971. It starts off with a prowler slowly sneaking into a bedroom carrying a hammer with a couple sleeping together in the bed. The prowler murders the couple in their sleep with the sharp part of the hammer, then sets the room on fire before running out of the house. A young girl then wakes up screaming, to have the opening scene turning out to be a nightmare, but of what really did happen recently to her mother and a current lover. She turns out to be in a hospital, now with her mother gone, and nobody knowing who her father is. She then wants to know who her father is so she does not have to live in a hospital or group home, but they do not have anything on that anywhere. She runs away from the hospital, but is caught and returned shortly after. She ends up being transferred to a group home where a lot of strange things are occurring. A young boy runs away, only to be pursued by a hired hand then shot and killed in the woods by the hired hand, and the hired hand brings back the boy's suitcase, but leaves the dead body in the woods. With an inspection happening, they make it look as if the boy is in an isolated room, so it doesn't go on record they have another runaway. It also turns they torture the children who try to run away in very sick, cruel, and inhumane ways. They also have bodies of previous runaways frozen in their basement freezer. The hired hand also turns out to be drunk bum who was taken in as an assistant from directly off the streets. It then appears as if they guy who killed the girl's mother sneaks into the group home to pay the girl more than just a visit. There are a lot of twists, turns, and eye openers in this film. There are also two big shocking surprises at the very ending. Those into grindhouse and murder mysteries should not be disappointed with this one.
