www.dreadcentral.com/news/48491/maniac-remake-casting-news-slices-its-way-onlineAccording to Bloody Disgusting Nora Arnezeder (Safe House) and Elijah Wood (The Lord of the Rings) have been cast as "Anna" and "Frank" in Alexandre Aja (The Hills Have Eyes, Piranha 3D, Mirrors, High Tension) and his producing/writing partner Grégory Levasseur's remake of the movie that put scalping back on the map. P2 director Franck Khalfoun is at the helm. Why? Seriously...why?!

Yeah, this is one film that doesn't need messed with. And Elijah wood, really? Maybe we'll get lucky and it'll get scrapped.

I almost liked P2, but I've seen none of the other movies mentioned. Including Maniac (yet). Granted, I only liked P2 for Wes Bently being lit on fire and blowing up...

People keep mentioning Elijah Wood's role in Sin City, and while he did work that well, it was for all of 7-10 minutes, if that. Not sure he can sustain that level of creepy for a whole movie. I have heard rumors that it's mainly going to be done POV style, but again, that's just a rumor.
There are pics of Wood with a knife ready to stab a woman and it just looks silly. Elijah is a good actor, but he ain't Joe Spinell.

While that did come to mind for me, he's one of the few things I didn't like about the Sin City movie. I just couldn't buy Frodo as a stone cold killer.

I don't think I liked ANYTHING about the Sin City movie.
Maniac is one of my all time favorite horror films, and Joe Spinell was perfect in the lead role. He looked super creepy, yet still found a way to be believably charming as well. I really don't think that can be topped or even equaled.
