I really like this movie! I know it has nothing to do with Michael Myers, but I think it works in a weird sort of way. I think of it as a different incident happening in another town on Halloween, while Michael is on a rampage somewhere else [Haddonfield probably lol]...if you get my meaning

I like this movie. Hated it for the longest time, but once I got that it wasn't supposed to be like the rest, it made a lot more sense to me.
John Carpenter didn't want any more sequels after Halloween 2, and refused to come on to direct it, so they took it a whole different direction. Could have had a better title though. I'm sure a lot of people that saw this in the theater just based off of the title were pissed.
If you can separate this from the rest of the franchise, not a bad film at all.

I skipped this one for years because it didn't have Michael Myers in it, but when I watched it about a year ago, I thought it was alright. Its a bit slow, but the idea is very creative and the effects are awesome.
I really would've liked to see where the franchise went if it stayed in this direction instead of rehashing the Myers story. The fact that the ending is so dark is amazing, plus who can forget that amazing Silver Shamrock jingle?

Oh, I love a good segue...
I really do like this movie. I seem to forget about about it until this time every year, so I'm looking forward to seeing it again. I'll bug the crap out of everyone with the countdown theme too, so no worries there.

I love the cover they made for the new collector's edition. I need to buy both 2 and 3.

I have all these movies. may have to dig them out for the end of the month still not that kee number 3 though, but I agree, seeing as they went in this direction for this movie, Im wondering why they returned to the story of michael myers for the rest of the sequeals?

I'm guessing laziness and because of all the whiners who complained "There's no Michael Myers! wah! WAH!!!!"

That and the fact that way more money was to be made off of Michael. This movie is great on it's own, but there was more money to be made keeping the Michael thing going. If this movie was distanced from the series, it would be way higher on peoples list of horror films, IMO.

Considering people still wear Myers costumes every Halloween this is also very true. I also agree that the movie would have more than likely spawned sequels if it had been branded differently.

Myers became iconic in only 2 movies and directly associated with Halloween. Not having him in a third is like, well, having a movie called Men with Bats for 2 movies and Men with Bats 3 is about a woman with a golf club. Don't work, man.

Which is exactly why it shouldn't have been a Halloween film. Again, named anything else on it's release, it would be a classic. Classified as a Halloween flick, it just doesn't work. Great movie, hurt badly by it's branding.

People probably felt tricked. But I mean, Michael DOES make a cameo in it!
