THE FUTURE IS NOW!
Thanks to cinema, we experience science fiction as science fact, and to celebrate that we do so once again with a sci-fi movie marathon!
The goal is to watch 30 sci-fi flicks in the month of September. Whether it be nightly, binge watching on the weekends or via a constant stream through a chip implanted in your brain, watch and (hopefully) enjoy a month of sci-fi madness!
Once watched, list them here in this thread.
And stay away from my cerebral cortex, Elon!

Getting a bit of an early start because I can't sleep.
00. 984: Prisoner of the Future AKA The Tomorrow Man (1982)*
TV pilot turned movie from Tibor Takács, the director of the fantastic late 80s horror flick The Gate, who has spent the last 30 years directing Syfy level trash and apparently palatable made for TV Christmas flicks.
It's on the 50 Sci-Fi Invasion pack put out by Millcreek, so it looks like a highly compressed cheap copy of a cheap copy of a VHS copy of a Betamax tape made from a 16mm print left out in the sun.

00. 984: Prisoner of the Future AKA The Tomorrow Man (1982)* 00. Hands of Steel (1986)*
This was better than it had any right to be.
Almost felt like a prototype Weapon X film. Mod the story a bit and give this guy some claws and you could have made a mid 80s Wolverine movie.
I want to get the 88 Films BD of this now.

I started too.
1: Not of This Earth (1957) Entertaining low budget Roger Corman SF film, released on a double bill with Attack of the Crab Monsters.

00. 984: Prisoner of the Future AKA The Tomorrow Man (1982)* 00. Hands of Steel (1986)* 00. Welcome To Blood City (1977)*
Interesting concept of a film, not all that bad. Outside of some freebie streaming sites doesn't seem to have a release since early VHS days.
00. The Creeping Terror (1964)*
This makes films like Manos The Hands of Fate and Plan 9 From Outer Space seem like Oscar worthy masterpieces.

01. Alien Raiders (2008)* 02. Death Race 2000 (1975)* 03. Deathsport (1978)* 04. The Land That Time Forgot (1974)*
This felt more like a film from 1959 than 1974. Kind of crazy seeing how far the quality of fantasy and sci-fi films jumps in just 5 years with Alien.
05. The People That Time Forgot (1977)*
Another film that feels lost in time. Guess it fits the theme.

0: Not of This Earth (1957)
Here we go with official list. I've been looking forward to this.
1: Battle Beyond the Sun (1962) Reedited and dubbed version of a Soviet film called Nebo Zovyot (1959). Roger Corman hired then film school student Francis Ford Coppola to do it. Amongst other things he added a pointless and stupid monster fight, complete with roars and other noises despite the asteroid they are on obviously having no atmosphere. The original effects are good in general however. I've found the original Soviet film and will watch soon.

...added a pointless and stupid monster fight, complete with roars and other noises despite the asteroid they are on obviously having no atmosphere. So them emphasized the fiction a little bit. Sounds about right for sci-fi flicks. I mean, Star Wars space is very loud.

Sounds about right for sci-fi flicks. I mean, Star Wars space is very loud. The original is based on Science for the time (1959). It's nearer Hard SF, Star Wars is Space Opera. But I suppose you need to give a drive in crowd a bit of action. I'm watching the original, and it has been changed quite radically. As you'd expect the original flows better. I'd say the enjoyment for the American audience would be the special effects.

I had to see how bad this was for myself. And boy howdy, it was glorious.
Oddly beautiful film, however. Well, everything but that monster fight scene. Yeeeesh!
07. Primal Impulse aka Footprints On The Moon (1975)
Only got Sci-Fi in the last 10 minutes. Dull film. Won't be watching again (until I forget I watched it in several years and punish myself by watching it again).
