Yup, someone felt the need to remake this, again. Not much info yet on this, here's what I have so far... "No official plot yet, but the original revolved around a telekinetic teenager named Carrie, who's pushed too far by her peers and gets revenge on everyone at the school prom." Filming is expected to begin sometime in 2012. Julianne Moore is in talks to play Carrie's mom. It's said that the film may incorporate some "found footage" elements. Director Kimberly Peirce was quoted recently saying: "I am also modernizing the story as one has to in order to bring any great piece of work written in one era into the next and especially given how very relevant this material is right now. Chloe is going deep into character to get this right....sewing her own dresses, spending time in her closet....and so much more..." (4/16/12) Chloe Moretz (Kick-Ass, Let Me In) plays Carrie. Kimberly Peirce (Boys Don't Cry, Stop-Loss) directs. Actress Megan Fox is reportedly very interested in starring in the film as Carrie. It's said that this version will be more faithful to the Stephen King book and less of a remake of the original movie. A theatrical sequel was made in 1999 and another adaptation of the book was made-for-TV in 2002. A remake of the 1976 Brian De Palma film with the same name. www.upcominghorrormovies.com/movie/carrie

Umm...what? This will easily be complete crap if Megan Fox is in it.

WTF?
Also, "less of a remake of the original movie"
"A remake of the 1976 Brian De Palma film with the same name"

UHM posts the info as soon as it's available, and sometimes, especially early on, the info is head scratch worthy to say the least, lol. I'm sure as more work is done on the movie it'll start to make some kind of sense.

I'm with you. Amazes me that so much effort is put into a movie that a) never needed to be touched in the first place and b) has already been remade. Here's a thought, go do something new and original.

But Dave, that requires creativity and effort. You're asking for too much.

You're right unfortunately. Everyone wants to jump on the remake bandwagon for the quick buck, and as long as people keep seeing the films, it'll keep happening. Sad, but true.

We need more people like Adam Green who pay tribute to the old by making new things.

New things are hard to come by, though. It's very hard to create a likable character you want to see more of, especially in a horror genre. Victor Crowley is one of those rare characters that was able to take the mold and reshape it to create a familiar character that still felt new and fresh. Happens, what, once a decade or so? What was the last new character that really made an impact, the Scream ghost faced killer?

agreed i think scream (and saw before it got silly) were the last 2 horror movies that had a major impact for me. very rarely does a movie come out noww thats original. I hate remakes.

That's true. I'm not saying whatever they make has to be completely new (what is anymore really?), but even if the character is a blatant rip off (like Trevor Moorehouse in Bloody Murder), take a crack at it.

Nice, looks like they got the right people for those two roles anyway. I just don't see why it needed remade, but I'll keep an open mind about it.
