Another good one. I just spent the majority of the last 4 days playing the new Doom 3 BFG Edition. I played it through mainly because I hadn't played Doom 3 in years. But all the talk of updated graphics was crap. Looked the same to me. And Resurrection of Evil and The Lost Mission were painfully short. Over before you get anything new going, so they felt like what they were, add-ons. Instead of how ID and Bethesda touted them, as new adventures. Pfft.

That sucks man. Glad I didn't order that like I originally intended. Then again, I need to find a job first before I can really buy anything.

Due part to yearly tradition and art induced insomnia, I watched and thoroughly enjoyed The Nightmare Before Christmas.
I think I've watched this one a few too many times, since I'm quoting the hell out of it during the feature. Especially Oogie. In a very poor imitation of his voice.

We watched The Firm today when I got home. My wife is a huge John Grisham fan and has read all of his books, and neither of us had ever seen this. She was super disappointed because she said they changed it from the book too much. I just thought it was OK. Not a big fan of Tom Cruise, or that type of movie really.
So, I gotta get that back in the mail first thing tomorrow to get Halloween III here soon.

It was awesome, wasn't it? I added it to the queue cuz I thought it would be one of those entertainingly bad films, but it turned out to be a hidden gem. Always like when that happens.

Well now I want to see it. Just added it. Might be a bit, but it's on the list.

I'm sure you'll enjoy it. It's one I've been recommending to a lot of people. It has such a generic title and less than impressive cover, so I'm sure many passed on it. Glad I didn't.

I watched The Sleeper last night. It was not gem, that's for sure, and it was the only 80s film I've ever seen with 00s haircuts and clothing. Did I hate it? No. Would I make this a regular viewing? No. Would I watch this every year on Halloween when I run out of other movies?
Maybe.

Movies like that are great for rainy days off and you can lay in bed and kind of doze while watching.

That movie tried way too hard to try and be 80's instead of being enteraining or logical. Never buying a movie from that company again ..

I just watched a documentary on Netflix called Indie Game - The Movie. It followed the lives of several indie game developers as they work to get their games done on a deadline and shown to the public for the first time. Two games it tracks are called Fez and Super Meat Boy.
I enjoyed the film. Was just shy of 2 hours, but you really get to understand what hardships the creators have to deal with being either independent or small teams without a major studio backing them, plus then the relief/stress of finishing and waiting for feedback.

But that means I'm never going to get a movie from that company again. Yeah, if they didn't focus on the setting and let it stay in the modern era they could have made it a much better film. But you know how everyone loves the films from then, so they try to get back to them. And when you have no budget, you get no quality unless it was made back in the 80s.

You should be glad you won't get another stinker from them. That guy is a ish director with no sense of pacing, logic, or ability to create worthwhile characters.

I watched Rammbok and The Secret World of Arietty. Both good but for obviously different reasons.
